Teatro Fracking arrives in Sorrento on Saturday, July 25th, with the moral patronage of the Municipality of Sorrento. A project born in 2016, a performance characterized by the interpenetration of different languages, a dramatic space where sign, gesture, pictorial and graphic techniques, sound, the invention of the moment, and chance, understood as both technology and an active partner, meet. The Teatro Fracking performance is characterized by its site-specific formula. This way, a significant before and after of a temporal, symbolic, and aesthetic condition is evident. Fracking is the geotechnical term used to describe the fracturing of a rock layer underground using a high-pressure fluid, usually water, for the purpose of extracting hydrocarbons. Fractures, breaks, tears, cracks, and faults are not only natural but also man-made. Divisions, scissions, conflicts, both collective and personal, cultural, political, and economic, destruction, reconstruction, and rebirth. The eternal contrasts that permeate the human condition are a source of reflection and a starting point for artistic action. The initiative's sole promoter and sponsor is the SyArt Gallery, conceived and curated by art historian Rossella Savarese, a tireless advocate for international projects in the region.

The event is held in the heart of Sorrento, near Sedil Dominova, where the public can participate in the procession to Largo San Francesco, culminating in the gallery at number 25.

Protagonists and authors: Fabio Sironi and Gianni Mimmo.

Fabio Sironi, illustrator, caricaturist, portraitist for publishing, and performance artist. He has published in Il Giorno, La Domenica del Corriere, Playboy, Capital, Humor Graphic, La Rivista dei Libri/The New York Review of Books, Nigrizia, and The Times, among others. His long collaboration with Corriere della Sera, which began in 1987, is noteworthy, as he "reinvented" reportage drawing on its pages. In this regard, he recalls the Cogne trial and his travels with Ettore Mo. He won the 1992 UNICEF Prize for Illustration at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. In 2008,

he illustrated the Italian Constitution for the exhibition "Il sorriso graffiato" at Ussel Castle (Chatillon). Since 2016, he has been involved in the Teatro Fracking project, which brings together painting, music, art video, and performance, in collaboration with Stefano Dehò for 3VProductions and the musician Gianni Mimmo.

Gianni Mimmo has built an international reputation thanks to his distinctive soprano saxophone voice and his uncompromising personal exploration. His distinctive trait is the juxtaposition of distant artistic expressions; his style draws on a profound knowledge of the instrument and a sonic awareness that is a constitutive element of his expressive language. Always interested in the intersection of the arts, he has participated in numerous interdisciplinary activities, with a particular focus on the relationship between music, text, and music, image. He dedicates himself to composition through graphic scores, perhaps with a neo-formal approach, deploying elements/intersections that spark a multi-perspective vision, a stimulating interpretative journey, and a deeper awareness of the dramatic and timbral implications at play. His tutelary deities appear to hail from the most adventurous jazz, such as Steve Lacy and Roscoe Mitchell, from contemporary music, such as John Cage, Robert Ashley, and Earle Brown, and from art, such as Jackson Pollock, Francis Bacon, Toti Scialoja, M. Sironi, and F. Casorati.

His work has been highly reviewed by the most important magazines and his collaborations include, among many others, names such as: Satoko Fujii, Joe Fonda, Harri Sjöström, Alison Blunt, John Russell, Daniel Levin, Hannah Marshall, Elisabeth Harnik, Clementine Gasser, Gianni Lenoci, Cristiano Calcagnile, Lawrence Casserley, Martin Mayes, Vinny Golia, Garrison Fewell, Benedict Taylor, Lisa Mezzacappa, Jean-Michel van Schouwburg, Evan Parker, Nicholas Isherwood, Ove Volquartz, Silvia Corda, Adriano Orrù, Nicola Guazzaloca, Xabier Iriondo, Michele Marelli, Teppo Hauta-hao, Mario Arcari, Achim Kaufmann, Matthias Bauer, Veli Kujala, Enzo Rocco, Angelo Contini, Yoko Miura, Thierry Waziniak, Stefano Pastor, Stefano Giust, Alessio Pisani, the dancers Marcella Fanzaga, Norontako Bagus Kentus, Sebastian Prantl, photographer Elda Papa, visual artists, theater, performance, and live soundtracking. Much of his concert activity takes place throughout Europe, the United States, and Japan at international festivals and events.
